The opening ceremony of "The Long March photography exhibition" was held in the Chinese Cultural Center in Tel-Aviv

On October 24th, Dr. Yulia Mitiagin, the Director General of the Israel Universities Alumni and Friends in China (IUAC), attended the opening ceremony of the "The Long March Photo Exhibition" held at the Tel Aviv Chinese Cultural Center by Mr. David Ben Uziel, a well-known Israeli friend to China.

His Excellency Mr. Cai Run, Chinese Ambassador to Israel, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. In his speech, Ambassador Cai pointed out that the Communist Party of China and the Red Army led by it carried out the great Long March, from October 1934 to October 1936, realizing the strategic transfer to the north to fight against Japan, and making the transition of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese revolutionary cause from a setback to a great turn of victory. Mr. David Ben Uziel’s "The Long March Road Photography Exhibition" will help Israeli friends better understand China's history, Chinese culture, China's development, and the struggle of the Communist Party of China.

Dr. Yulia Mitiagin, the director general of the Israel Universities Alumni and Friends in China (IUAC), said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency reporters at the scene: "In fact, many Israelis have always known the story of the Long March, because the spirit of it has something in common with the traditional spirit of Israel. There is no doubt that these photos provide more visual perspective. I am very happy to see that a fellow Israeli took the road of the long March and documented the people and views on the way. Events like this build bridges of cultural exchanges and enrich the understanding of China among Israelis, including me.”

Born in 1935, David Ben Uziel has been curious about the distant and mysterious eastern powers since he was young. After reading Edgar Snow's "Red Star Over China" and stumbling upon footage about the Long March, he was deeply moved. He thought: What kind of spirit supports the Chinese Red Army to overcome many obstacles? Going to the Long March to find the answer in person has become a wish that haunted David Ben Uziel for many years. In 2005 , this dream finally came true. Accompanied by Chinese friends, he started from Yudu, Jiangxi, and ended in Wuqi, Shaanxi, which took nearly 5 months. Among them, the walking distance is more than 1000 kilometers. In his footage, there are not only the straw sandals that witnessed the arduous journey and bloody battle of the Red Army officers and soldiers, but also the site of the Zunyi Conference and the customs and folk culture along the way.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Shi Yuewen, Director of the Tel Aviv Chinese Cultural Center. Military Attaché Zhang Su, Attaché Zhu Dezhong and Culture Attaché Yan Xiangdong of the Chinese Embassy in Israel also attended.
